Heel Fissures

Heel fissures, or cracking of the skin of the heels, is an often caused by friction of the edge of an open back shoe or sandal. The callus then dries out and cracks causing a painful condition that can be deep enough to cause bleeding. Treatment consists of removal of the callus with a buffer and use of skin lotions. If the cracking is painful and/or bleeding you should seek treatment from our office.
