Heel Callus

Heel calluses, also called plantar calluses, develop when there is to much pressure on the skin and it thickens. The pressure can be caused by pronation, improper fitting shoes with narrow heels, open heeled shoes, being barefooted and in some occasions over weight. Once the callus forms it causes more pressure resulting in a thicker callus. At times the callus dries and the skin looses it flexibility resulting in cracking and fissuring of the heel.

Use of pumice stone or skin buffer to remove the dead skin and skin moisturizers will help decrease discomfort.
